Had my first Stand Up Paddleboard race today in Capitola. It was the Covewater Classic and it was a free and just a "fun" 3.5 mile race. My board isn't built to race because it's a foam board but it was still fun and even with the Wave Storm under my feet I did pretty well. And it was gorgeous out which made it even better!!! As I came in to the finish, the first place woman finished behind me and said, "You kicked my ass on a Wave Storm!!!" I was pretty happy about that. I also finished with the two other guys I came with. It's very tempting to go out and purchase a real board to see if I'd be able to compete. Either way it was a good time, good people and there was an after party with great food.
